Most of the sculptures found here date back to the 8th and the 9th century. It was a part of the Puspagiri University, together with Lalitgiri and Udayagiri,Lalitagiri (also known as Naltigiri) is a major Buddhist complex in the Indian state of Odisha comprising major stupas, 'esoteric' Buddha images, and monasteries (viharas), one of the oldest sites in the region.
